This is an earthy Pinot Noir (more old world than new) that launches with aromas of rhubarb, sous bois (forest floor) and tart red berries with beet greens and roasted coffee beans. It is vey smooth on the entry, similar coffee and tart red fruits cross the palate; it is light-bodied with fine, firm tannins and a long, slightly bitter and warm finish.

This Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot is a solid wine at a very approachable price.

A delicious everyday Cotes du Rhone (the wines from here offer very good value), that has plenty of sweet berry, cherry and floral aromas, leather and earth with a layer of herbs and sweet spices. The sweet fruit and floral aromas are echoed on the palate - it has lovely acidity and a firm, smooth texture - fine spicebox flavours linger on the finish.

Here is an old world wine that will impress you with its intensity and bright character.

This delicious blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre from the southern Rhone is a perfect example of the southern Rhone's ability to produce quality wines with ripe fruit and complexity at an appealing price point.
There are obvious notes of mixed berry, wild herbs, saddle leather and spice on the nose but it leaps onto the palate with sweet blueberry and raspberry flavours, vanilla and spice flavours (notably star anise and clove) pepper and berries linger on the finish. It is a bright and supple wine that will pair well with rich mushroom dishes or firm, dry goat cheese.

This Syrah (made with the addition of 25% Grenache) is a wine that shows impressive complexity and power. This is a delicious wine made from vineyards that have not seen the use of fertilizer or insecticides for more than 25 years and are currently in transition to organic.
It is a feminine wine, presenting aromas of forest berries and crushed flowers, white pepper and rosemary. The palate is brimming with sweet, high-toned fruit, mixed spice and cedary flavours. It is full and expressive with fine, firm tannins clinging to the finish. Pair this wine with Mediterranean dishes or aged, crumbly goat cheese.

Sporting a new label (read the story on the back label) and a new, lighter coloured bottle the Poacher's White still retains its freshness and value.
Lemons and honeysuckle, a hint of sweet herbs and a whiff of talc. The palate is mouthwateringly crisp with layers of lemon meringue, honey and tangerine peel - a fruitcup of flavours linger on the finish.

This organic rose is made from 95% Merlot and 5% Syrah and is not for the meek.
It is a dark rusty-ruby colour with aromas of cherry juice, smoke, dried tobacco leaf and wild herbs with an earthy core. There is plenty of lively acidity and flavours of tobacco and spice with hints of dried fruit. Quite powerful and grippy on the palate with a dusty texture - spice and bitter flavours linger on the finish.
Will hold its own with barbecued foods.

A lovely coloured rose Cava made from 100% Pinot Noir, this refreshing bubbly offers aromas of sweet red berries, earthy spices, dried flowers and toasty/brioche undertones. A wonderful version of this grape variety that you'll see on more labels in BC than almost anywhere, save France, Germany and parts of Eastern Europe. You'll be tempted to chill this wine a little too much in the summer months but try to refrain from keeping it on ice and you'll be rewarded.
It is both pristine and quite intense at the same time - orchard fruit aromas of apricot, pear and apple with orangeblossoms and vanilla and a mineral core. The palate is snappy and crisp with nice concentration - layers of creamy fruits, citrus peel and mineral flavours are followed by a long, clean finish.

This very dry, south of France-style rose is coppery in colour with aromas of wild berries and herbs, forest floor, mineral and cigarbox with a hint of white pepper and some rubbery notes. It is juicy and very crisp with nice structure and lovely acidity. You can pick up hints of its Pinot character and it has a long tobacco-y finish.
Pair with aged goat cheese, fish or hearty summer salads.

A Vin de Pays Pinot with a lot of character. Aromas of ripe black raspberry and sweet spice, a potpourri of cedar chips and crushed violets with just a hint of vanilla flavours. The palate is also sweet and ripe with plenty of juicy raspberry, cigarbox and vanilla. It has lively acidity and a smooth, spiced finish.

About 1/4 of this Chardonnay spent 2 months in new French oak barrels and was lees stirred to lend its creamy texture.
Aromas of butterscotch and ripe pear, apple peel and sweet spice with bright citrus notes. It has a nice weight and has a slightly creamy edge to soften the lively acidity. Flavours of butterscotch, spice and vanilla echo the aromas.
Nicely balanced.

A solid value and always consistent rose made of Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah from mountainside vineyards in the southern Rhone Valley appellation of Ventoux.
Pretty aromas of berries in cream, violets and sweet spice with cherry notes. The palate dry but the berry fruit is ripe and sweet, hints of vanilla custard and fine spicebox flavours linger. Great acidity and a brilliant ruby red colour.

A terrific blend of Sauvignon Blanc with 25% Semillon, the Alibi launches into tropical fruit and citric notes - melon and tangerine peel, vanilla and grass clippings with a mineral core. On the palate it doesn't fall short either, presenting a creamy texture and mouth-watering acidity that boosts flavours of tropical fruit, herbs and citrus. The finish is crisp and lingers with flavours of vanilla and peach.

Aurelio Montes continues to make one of the most balanced and delicious versions of Chardonnay in Chile.

This little brother to Le Grand Vin Osoyoos Larose is quite brawny. Aromas of black fruits and plums, a layer of dried fruit and dark chocolate, espresso and spice with sunbaked earth and a savoury, meaty core. Concentrated but not supple with dark earthy flavours to echo the aromas - coffee and cocoa, tobacco and spice with fine, tight tannins across the palate. The acidity is obvious, the flavours are dense and the finish is lengthy.

Not only a good value sipper, but a wine that supports a very worthy cause. Having just celebrated one year since it's first release I watched recently as a $100,000 cheque was handed over to beneficiaries in support ecosystem conservation of the Great Bear Rainforest and Spirit Bears. In fact 15% of all sales from the WhiteBear Wines go to this important cause.
The Pinot Blanc is a refreshing white with crisp tree fruit, mineral and floral notes. The palate presents sweet apple and pear fruit flavours and hints of herbs with peachy flavours lingering on the finish.
A great everyday quaffer and very affordable too.

The 2007 is a little bit more restrained than the 2006 Foxtrot, but I would take either vintage and be quite happy. Having reached almost cult status, the Foxtrot Pinot Noir from the Naramata Bench, continues to be sought by collectors and fine restaurants in BC.
It is a solid wine, presenting aromas of cranberry and raspberry, hints of beetroot and sagebrush, forest floor and minerals with fine spice and cigarbox notes. The palate is silky with a fine, powdery texture, fantastic acidity and great length. Fine tannins cling to the finish.
550 cases made, just starting to be released April 2010 - Very good.

The JoieFarm Rose has cult-like following. It's not uncommon to see it decorating the tables of diners on patios in the summertime around Vancouver.
A blend of Pinot Noir, Gamay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Gris, this year's version seems darker in colour. And, having just returned from the Southern Rhone and tasting the famous roses of Tavel I can honestly say, aromatically, it's a dead ringer. Expect a brilliant ruby colour with aromas of red cherry and chalky minerality, wild herbs and cigarbox with a hint of raspberry. The palate is dry and spicy with primary flavours of forest berry and strawberry. The acidity is bright, it a soild backbone too followed by fine tannins and spicebox flavours clinging to the finish.

The palate is bright with expressive berry flavours, espresso and tobacco. Lovely structure, soft tannins and flavours of spice and cocoa linger on the finish.

This wine has very pretty aromas of violets and raspberries with hints of tart cranberry and rhubarb, cedar and herbal notes with beet greens. The texture is very fine, it's light in body but still has plenty of red fruit and leather, a hint of char and spice. It has lively acidity and mocha flavours lingering on the finish.
This wine benefits from decanting or letting it breathe prior to serving.

A composite of cherries and red berries, wild herbs and forest floor, cedar and a hint of crushed floral. It's a nicely rounded Pinot with substance, the palate is smooth and presents plenty of juicy berry fruit, cigarbox and a hint of bittersweet cocoa. It finishes nicely with sweet tannins and lingers with fine spice.
