A wonderful version of this grape variety that you'll see on more labels in BC than almost anywhere, save France, Germany and parts of Eastern Europe. You'll be tempted to chill this wine a little too much in the summer months but try to refrain from keeping it on ice and you'll be rewarded.

The JoieFarm Rose has cult-like following. It's not uncommon to see it decorating the tables of diners on patios in the summertime around Vancouver.
A blend of Pinot Noir, Gamay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Gris, this year's version seems darker in colour. And, having just returned from the Southern Rhone and tasting the famous roses of Tavel I can honestly say, aromatically, it's a dead ringer. This fresh, delicate Gamay has aromas of wild strawberries and violets, cigarbox, woodsy notes and sweet spice with a peppery core. The palate is juicy with red cherries and mixed forest berries, cedar and fine spice. It is light-bodied and silky with a firm finish and powdery tannins.

Bouchard Pere&Fils Bourgogne, Pinot Noir, Burgundy France, 2007
Readers rated this wine:
Aromas of juicy red cherry and forest berries, saddle leather, violets and savoury, forest floor and composty notes (just what I love in classic Pinot) with a hint of fine peppery spice. The palate layers bright red fruit, spice, forest floor and cedary flavours between bright acidity and a velvety texture.
Nice, simple and fresh.

A new label adorns this bottle and you'll see it at the upcoming 2009 Vancouver Playhouse International Wine Festival. Bright, juicy red fruit, fragrant violet, tobacco and cedar box with forest floor undertones that reign it in. Tart red fruit and potpourri and spices are echoed on the palate - lifted acidity, medium bodied, with fine tannin. Easy paired with creamy cheeses or duck and mushroom ravioli.

This affordable Burgundy releases pretty aromas of sweet cherry, vibrant raspberry and pristine mountain stream minerality with cedar and forest floor notes. The entry is juicy - tart red fruit leads the way followed by cigarbox and fine spice with composty, leafy notes and white pepper on the finish.
