A fresh, verdant Sauvignon Blanc with a fantastic price tag.
Aromas of nettle, grass clippings and gooseberry, green papaya and passionfruit with a whiff of jalapeno. There is a hint of sweetness on the palate and it is not a shy wine - it's loaded flavours of nettle, snap peas and citrus peel that linger through the finish.

A new package on a old favorite!
This De Bortoli Family Selection red blend has obvious sunwarmed wild berry and eucalyptus aromas, chocolate, vanilla and a mineral/saline core. Readers rated this wine:
It seems to me that all of the Gehringer Rieslings are great value, but this Private Reserve at only $15 is not only my favorite of the trio but is an excellent value.
The aromas in this one are quite taut - mineral, vibrant citrus and green apple with a hint of apricot. The palate is an echo of tart fruit - snappy green apple and citrus peel with honey. It is a very dry style with bracing acidity and a long crisp finish that will pair well with light fish dishes.

This crowd-pleasing red will get you through the party season without breaking the bank.
Ripe summer berries - blueberries and raspberries - chocolate and vanilla, floral and vague herbal tones. The palate is creamy and warm on the tongue, the berries, vanilla and chocolate return with cedar chips and espresso and plenty of spice flavours lingering.
Supple and completely quaffable.

Henkell Trocken Sekt, Germany, NV
Readers rated this wine:
Expect an affordable bubbly with toasted hints with plenty of fruity notes - apple and apricot hints with some honey and citrus blossoms. The palate is smooth and mousse-y, it is unapologetically off-dry and bright with plenty of apricot jam and citrus with some chalky or talc flavours and a long, pleasant finish.

Don't let the "dry" on the label confuse you, this Henkell is more sweet than dry, but that shouldn't be a deterrent.
Ripe apricots, honey and citrus blossom aromas, mouth-filling mousse and loads of sweet fruit with grapefruit flavours on the finish.
Will pair well with spiced dishes or use in your brunch mimosas.

A stunning vintage Champagne made from 100% Chardonnay the Amour de Deutz has golden glints and pristine bubbles. It presents rich aromas of roasted nuts and apple pie, honeycomb and quince with toasted brioche and dried pear. Segura Viudas Brut Reserva, Penedes Spain, NV
Readers rated this wine:
I've been drinking this go-to traditional method sparkling wine for a very long time and seeing the grapes being harvested for it this past September just made my appreciation grow.
Made from the three traditional white grapes used in making Cava (Macabeo, Parellada and Xarello) it is a seamless sparkling with complexity. Bright aromas of Asian pear, praline, honey, delicate floral and citric notes and a leesy, bread dough core. Loads of minerality on the palate with plenty of crisp tree fruit and citrus flavours - crisp and creamy and entirely quaffable.
Always a great value but now through February 2010 it's a steal at $13.99.

Laurent~Perrier Cuvee Rose Brut Champagne, NV
Readers rated this wine:
This 100% Pinot Noir sparkling embodies all that is delicious about roses from Champagne. It is a gorgeous salmon hue with brilliant tiny bubbles that release berries and cream, fragrant flowers and fine toast. The palate is lively and fruity, yet creamy and complex, it has a substantial weight yet is utterly delicate. The finish is elongated, it will linger far longer than it will take for you to reach for another sip...
Celebrate!
