This Malbec was sold out at the winery by the time I tasted it.
Spicy blackberries and white pepper, coffee, charred licorice, candied violets and cherries appear on the nose. It's a BBQ red with espresso and black fruits, toasted spice and sooty cocoa tannins. It has a meaty character is fresh and textural on the palate.

Charisma by Gold Hill, Pinot Noir Rose, Okanagan Valley, BC
Readers rated this wine:
Slick, tangy, zesty.
This new, well-designed second label (and separate website) for Gold Hill Winery, has seven wines (all whites are $21.99 and reds $24.99).
The Rose, made from Pinot Noir was sold out at the winery by the time I tasted it.
Sour cherries and wild herbs, charred orange peel, dried flowers and salted plum aromas lead to a zesty and mouthwatering palate. Tangy red berries, crab apple and cedar flavours dominate the palate--it's also slick and tangy.

Gold Hill 'Grand Vin', Okanagan Valley, BC
Readers rated this wine:
Savoury, complex, balance.
Owners of old Hill, the Gill family have been farming for thousands of years in the Punjab and when they moved to Canada in the 1980s continued to do so in the Okanagan Valley. Born in 2009, Gold Hill makes small lot estate wines from the Gill's 65-acres in the south Okanagan; 32 in Osoyoos and 24-acres on the Golden Mile (not part of the sub-GI).
Formed from the soils of Gold Hill's vineyard on the Golden Mile this Reserve Meritage blends classic Bordeaux varieties and is the estate's flagship wine.
Spicy wild berries and currents, soy sauce and prune, vanilla, licorice and mocha aromas roll onto a palate that is supple and balanced. Similar salty/umami flavours appear in the mouth with bitter cocoa, espresso, spice and muddled dark berries. It has complexity and depth, structure and balance; the tannins are chalky.
