Gray Monk 'Monk's Blend', Okanagan Valley, BC
Readers rated this wine:
NEW, fresh, fragrant.
This first vintage of the Monk's Blend was harvested from long-standing growers for Gray Monk from the south Okanagan (70%) and Similkameen (30%) valleys, this blend of 73% Syrah and 27% Cabernet Sauvignon was oak aged (varietals separately) for 8 months in American and French oak; mostly 2 to 3-year-old barrels. The wines were later blended just before bottling.
Black cherry and raspberry aromas are layered with vanilla, licorice, cedar, pipe tobacco and chocolate. It has a sweet jammy palate like the nose suggests, with berries, vanilla and baling spice flavours. It's a modern approachable red with nice freshness.

Gray Monk Chardonnay 'Unwooded', Okanagan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
Zippy, fresh, value
A fruit-forward Chardy with loads of orchard fruits (think pears, peaches and yellow plums) alongside grapefruit, honey, white flowers and vanilla. The palate mimics the nose; the sweet fruit is charming; it is a pristine and juicy quaffer.
A great everyday sipper.

Bold peachy aromas are layered with pretty notes of vanilla, pears in honey, tangerine and freesia blossoms. It is zippy, has a kiss of sweetness to really pop the fruit on the palate, and is lively. A great everyday sipper with good persistence.

Gray Monk Odyssey Brut Sparkling Rose, Okanagan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
Pleasing, expressive, juicy.
Gray Monk makes this Brut Rose in the traditional method (like Champagne) from the grape varieties Gamay and Pinot Meunier.
It's a salmon-pink bubbly with copper glints and fresh aromas of cherries, tangerine peel, peach stone, dried herbs and crisp red apples. It has a pleasing mousse and attractive expressive fruit; a kiss of sweetness highlights its red apple, cherry and honey flavours. Juicy and wonderfully approachable.
It's off-dry and will pair nicely with salmon, soft and mild cheeses, turkey, mildly spicy dishes or most appetizers.
