Perfumed, smooth, woven.
The name
fonte del re pays homage to an old spring near the town of Morro d'Alba in Marche. Lacrima is a very special ancient variety, with soft tannins, brought back to life in small amounts around the region. It's a highly perfumed variety and this one is as expressive as I'd hoped. Violets an rose petals pour from the glass followed by warm raspberry and muddled cherry aromas that are woven with sarsaparilla, fine white pepper and chocolate. The palate dances with purple fruits lashed with spice, cedar, tobacco and leather. Smooth and ripe it trails that classic Italian grape bitterness and chalky cocoa tannins.
