Culmina Family Estate Winery 'No. 014 Wild Ferment' Rose, Golden Mile Bench, Okanagan Valley, BC
Readers rated this wine:
Tangy, zesty, slick.
From the Golden Mile Bench, this pale peachy sophmore edition Wild Ferment is a blend of Cabernet Franc (60%), Syrah (25%), Malbec (15%) and Syrah that was made with minimal intervention.
Using 100% wild yeast, it was fermented in a combination of stainless steel (70%) and neutral French oak (30%).
Bitter orange and rhubarb aromas mingle with currents and warm honey, charred cedar and a dollop of yogurt. Similar bitter orange and tangy red fruit dominate the palate layered with flavours of charred spice and burnt honey. Fresh and zesty with a slick texture, this is a rose to pair with grilled fish, smoked tofu and noodles, or chicken salad.

Second Review: November 2021
A rusty salmon hue, this saignee pink smells of wildflowers and carred orange peel, forest berries, apple peel, peach stone and fleur de sel. Juicy and dry it has bold citrus, tealeaf and cedary flavours. The structure and purity remain notable.

Tangy, structure, spicy.
From the Golden Mile Bench, this pale peachy blend of Cabernet Franc (48%), Syrah (17%), Malbec (15%), Cabernet Sauvignon (12%) and Merlot (8%) is a saignee method pink using only free-run juice after only 4 hours on the skins.
Charred orange peel and matchstick aromas are braided with wild berries, peppery spices and the undertones reminiscent of a shot glass of mezcal with a salted rim. It has a tart character and flavours of apple skin, orange zest, tobacco, cedar and apricot stone. The structure is notable, it's a pink that will stand up to chicken and turkey, fish tacos, creamy pastas, paella or strongly flavoured cheese.

Culmina Family Estate Winery 'Susser No.18' Riesling, Okanagan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
Concentrated, zesty, profound.
Located on the upper Golden Mile Bench, Culmina was established by the Triggs family (of Jackson-Triggs fame) in 2007 and was sold in 2019 to Arterra Wines Canada.
The Susser was harvested from the coolest corner of the estate's Margaret Bench vineyard and is a powerful version with a Pfalz style and notable purity. White flowers, honey, white peaches crushed stone, candied lemons, petrol and chalky aromas lead to a slick, sweet and tangy palate that is concentrated pristine and slick. The finish is profound and lengthy with distinct earthiness.

Culmina Family Winery 'No. 020 Perle de Rose' Sparkling Wine, Golden Mile Bench, Okanagan Valley, BC
Readers rated this wine:
Pristine, lovely, classic.
Located on the upper Golden Mile Bench, Culmina was established by the Triggs family (of Jackson-Triggs fame) in 2007 and was sold in 2019 to Arterra Wines Canada.
A first for the winery, this traditionally made bubble is comprised of early harvested Merlot and Cabernet Franc that saw minimal skin contact and the second fermentation was done in bottle.
Expect a pale rose gold bubbly with bready/brioche notes underscored by wild berries and grapefruit, peaches and wildflower honey. The palate is moussy with bold red apple flavours woven with peach, berries, honey and floral tones. Lovely structure, good length and a pristine character overall.
