Black Hills Estate Winery Viognier, Okanagan Valley BC, 2011
Readers rated this wine:
Just released! The third vintage of the Black Hills Viognier is wonderfully fresh. It leads with crisp mineral notes (think fresh mountain stream), lemon and lime and follows up with still-crisp peach, musky honey and apricots with pretty wildflower notes. It has a slick texture with attractive weight and focused citrus, mineral and honey flavours. The finish is tangy and mouthwatering. Pair with halibut, roast chicken or a thin-crust caramelized onion and soft blue cheese pizza.

Readers rated this wine:
Second Review, November 2017: Forest berries and toasted spices, quite restrained with plenty of tobacco undertones. Fresh black currents, spicy and succulent with significant maturity for the vintage. ©copyright 2016 Daenna Van Mulligen Wine Scores Reviewed - November 24th, 2017
Value, peppery, organic.
The vineyard for this wine is planted 1200 meters above sea level in Tupungato Valley and it comes from organically grown grapes. It's been a consistent player in our market for many years and provides solid value. The nose offers peppery notes with black cherries, black currents, vanilla, baking spices, tealeaf and leather. The palate echoes the nose with sweet spices, generous ripe purple berries, and dark chocolate flavours, which roll into silky tannins.
A red to pair with hearty pastas or red meats. ©copyright 2016 Daenna Van Mulligen

Readers rated this wine:
Value, consistent, organic.
The organic vineyard for this wine hails from is 1200 meters above sea level in Tupungato Valley, Mendoza. Bousquet has been a consistent player in our market for many years and was organic long before it became consumer demand.
It's a woven wine; wild berries, dusty plums, savoury spices and roasted herbs, dark cocoa and espresso aromas are echoed on the palate. Fleshy and fresh it's a solid go to weekday red for hearty pastas, BBQ or medium-firm cheeses. ©copyright 2020 Daenna Van Mulligen

Terravista Vineyards 'En Terre' Brut, Okanagan Valley, BC
Readers rated this wine:
Elegant, creamy, dry.
Specializing in small lot (primarily white) wines, Terravista Vineyards is a gem on the vibrant winemaking region anchored to Penticton called the Naramata Bench. Their second label En Terre is a new project, seven years in the making. En Terre meaning earthen or of the earth is the embodiment of this special wine series and also the name of Terravista's home vineyard. En Terre reflects their commitment to sustainability and mindful winemaking practices. It is about striking the balance between nature, land and innovative techniques.
The label's distinctive logo, a symbol of the brand's ethos of perpetual motion, draws inspiration from Davinci's golden ratio; a timeless representation of nature's balance and beauty. There will be five wines in total, but for now, three have been released including this serious traditional method sparkling brut made from 69% Pinot Noir and 31% Chardonnay. It was aged 16 months on lees and no dosage was added after being disgorged. Toasted apple brioche and grilled lemon, yellow apple, hazelnut and wildflower aromas lead to a dry palate with a creamy texture and fine bead. It has a savoury complexity and notes of dried pineapple, hazelnut and racy citrus flavours. Long and elegant.

Fragrant, juicy, smooth.

Notes of licorice and leather, sweet cherry and wild berries, purple flowers and coffee lead to a juicy palate. In the mouth it is a little shyer and earthier with tart red fruit, tealeaf and vanilla flavours. It is smooth and enjoyable.
